Introducing the New UBS 6 Greek New Testament

By Greg Paulson

The sixth edition of the United Bible Societies’ Greek New Testament (UBS6), published in late 2025, introduces numerous significant changes, including a new order of books and the inclusion of previously “missing” verses in the main text with double brackets to show they are later additions. The edition also incorporates all the findings from the Editio Critica Maior for Mark, Acts, and Revelation, resulting in 167 textual changes from the UBS5. Finally, the whole structure has been revised and streamlined in numerous ways to present the relevant information as clearly as possible.

Find out more about these changes in this introductory video.

    Dear Sir,
Thank you for your fine video above. You asked viewers to comment on the table of contents & the placing of double bracketed verses in the main body of the text. First, my use of the THGNT prepared me for change in table of contents so there was little adjustment. Second, l’m in favour of placing these questionable verses in the main block of the text. The brackets in the main block cause me to look below & spend time considering what the note there is saying.

Finally, after ECM has completed its revision of the GNT would you encourage the publishers to produce a fine leather bound GNT? While I own & use 2 UBS 6 GNTs, my current first choice is my leather bound THGNT. On my shelves are a leather bound UBS 4 & a NA 26, reminders of my student days.

    Thank You,
    Rev John Wilderspin BA, ThM
